Using a Nanny diary.

Writer: Cheshire NanniesCheshire Nannies

Keeping a diary at work can be very beneficial for many reasons:

  • Keep track of mileage and expenses and keep receipts in one place.

  • You can record any medication given to the children with the time given, and get a parents signature that evening. This helps to prevents the child having extra doses unknowingly.

  • Any accidents can be recorded and signed by a parent in the evening. This can also cover you from a safeguarding perspective.

  • Any messages to back up your handover with the parents to ensure nothing is forgotten.

  • Activities planned for the children so everyone knows what the week ahead looks like. This can avoid the children being double booked, and is helpful if the role isn't sole charge.

  • Any illnesses with the children, good to build a bigger picture if necessary for ongoing illness etc. This is helpful if the child gets admitted into hospital to help answer questions.

  • Nanny to record annual leave, good to keep track.
